3 Indian Soldiers Injured in Kashmir Explosion

By Fayaz Wani

Srinagar, June 27: Three Indian paramilitary soldiers were injured in a powerful grenade explosion in the summer capital of the restive Kashmir on Saturday.

A senior police officer said that militants lobbed a hand grenade towards paramilitary CRPF soldiers at Jehangir Chowk in the heart of Srinagar, the summer capital of Srinagar on Saturday afternoon. "The grenade exploded with a big bang, causing injuries to three soldiers," he said.

The injured soldiers were shifted to the civil hospital, where doctors are attending on them.

Immediately after the explosion, the police and paramilitary soldiers laid siege around the area and conducted combing and search operations to flush out the militants responsible for the attack. No arrests took place.

No militant group has owned the responsibility of the attack, which is the first major attack in Srinagar in recent past.
