PPL Montana Chief Operating Officer to Retire

BILLINGS, Mont. , June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brad Spencer, who has served as vice president and chief operating officer of PPL Montana for eight years, will retire September 30.

"We thank Brad for his leadership, both in improving performance inside the company and in his very successful efforts in establishing PPL Montana as an important state and community partner," said William H. Spence, executive vice president and chief operating officer of PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL).

"We congratulate Brad on an outstanding career in the power industry. We wish him all the best in retirement," said Spence.

Spencer has 38 years' experience in the electricity generation business, starting with a generation engineer position at the Trojan nuclear plant inOregon. He came to PPL Montana from Constellation Operating Services, where he served as vice president for Western Operations, with responsibility for eight power plants inCalifornia,Utah,Nevada andHawaii.

In his years at Constellation, he also served as business development manager and plant manager for two generating facilities.

Spencer earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University and is a registered professional engineer.

PPL has 500 employees inMontana involved in the generation and sale of electricity. PPL Montana operates coal-fired power plants atColstrip andBillings, as well as 11 hydroelectric power plants along Rosebud Creek and theMissouri, Madison, Clark Fork and Flathead rivers. It has a combined generating capacity of about 1,200 megawatts and has offices inBillings,Butte andHelena.

PPL Corporation controls or owns more than 12,000 megawatts of generating capacity inthe United States, sells energy in key U.S. markets and delivers electricity to about 4 million customers inPennsylvania and theUnited Kingdom.
