Ticket News Announces Top Ticket Sellers for Week Ending June 20, 2009

TicketNews announces its top ticket sellers rankings for the week ending June 20, 2009.

TOP 20 OVERALL SELLERS

Bruce Springsteen has been among the most outspoken artists against the secondary ticket market in recent months, and earlier this year he criticized Ticketmaster for redirecting fans to its resale site for a February 6 Springsteen concert in New Jersey. At that time, Ticketmaster CEO Irving Azoff quickly responded to the accusation with an apology, and tempers calmed on both sides.

According to TicketNews, recent comments from Ticketmaster chairman Barry Diller have seemed to rekindle the war of words. Diller told the New York Post that Springsteen is "one of our most vocal critics on our ticketing policies," before continuing, "and while he's more than entitled to his opinion, it seems minimally fair-minded to point out that in the concert that created the battle, where Ticketmaster apologized for making a technical mistake, it seems that Mr. Springsteen held back from his fans all but 108 of the 1,126 tickets closest to the stage." Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau, responded to the comments through a post on the Boss's official Web site. "As a result, an undetermined but large amount of money flowed into TicketsNow (and eventually Ticketmaster) even though there were still tickets at normal prices yet to be made available on Ticketmaster. We perceived this to have been a major abuse of our fans," said Landau.

Ticketmaster kept its position at the top of the Top Overall Sellers rankings with a power score of 32.48. The next seven spots in the rankings were the same as last week with StubHub in second place with a power score of 18.33. ETix moved into the top ten this week, at number nine with a power score of 1.24.
