Underground mining equipment highlight of Ritchie Bros. unreserved auction in Gillette, Wyoming
Construction equipment and late model trucks will also be sold to the
highest bidders
GILLETTE, WY, June 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA), the world's largest industrial auctioneer, is conducting a multi-million dollar unreserved public equipment auction inGillette, Wyoming on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, starting at 8:00 a.m.
The upcoming unreserved auction inGillette will feature more than 450 mining, construction and transportation equipment items from 40 different owners. Two local contractors selling construction equipment in the auction include Three Way Inc., a construction and steel pipeline contractor fromBuffalo, Wyoming and Melgaard Construction, a construction contractor based inGillette, Wyoming. Each item in the unreserved auction will be sold to the highest bidders on auction day with no minimum bids or reserve prices.
"We've got a pretty decent selection of well-maintained construction equipment and some really nice late model trucks in the sale," said Steve Merich, Regional Manager, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. "Buyers should be able to show up on auction day and find exactly what they're looking for."
Rock Well Petroleum, a North American-based oil development and production company that incorporates underground mining techniques to horizontally drill for stranded oil below ground, is also selling a number of items in the auction including very specialized late model, low hour underground mining equipment. The mining equipment includes: two DOSCO MK2BP electric crawler roadheaders, one J H Fletcher DR13ECF electric crawler roof bolter, a Pumpit Portable Grout Plant, 2007 Mud Technology Portable Drill Fluid Mixing System MCT1605, four 2006 Sandvik DFP30 4x4 underground articulated dump trucks and two Sandvik DFP07-CS underground long haul dumps.
"I watched this mining equipment excavate large underground rooms where multiple oil wells were horizontally drilled directly into an oil reserve," said Merich. "Extracting the oil this way is simpler than conventional methods but you still have to get down underground first to make it happen-that's where this equipment came from. To purchase any of this equipment new would be very expensive. The mining equipment we're selling in the auction is in good condition because it hasn't been used that much."
Construction equipment being sold in the auction includes compaction equipment, paving equipment, hydraulic excavators, loader backhoes, wheel loaders and motor scrapers. The auction will also feature agricultural tractors and many types of trailers and late model truck tractors including a 2007 Kenworth T800 Tri Drive Winch and a 2006 Peterbilt 378.
