Pakistani Militant Arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 24: Police on Wednesday claimed that a Pakistani militant of Jaish-e-Mohammad was arrested from the apple town of Sopore in North Kashmir.
"Police achieved a major break through when they succeeded in arresting a Pakistani militant Assadullah of JeM. The militant was active for the last two years and was involved in many attacks on police, paramilitary and army soldiers," a police spokesman said.
He said that a Chinese pistol along with a magazine was recovered from his possession.
Meanwhile, a policeman was injured when armed militants fired on an escort party of a police officer near Maminder village of Shopian district in South Kashmir last evening.
Identified as Mohammad Maqbool (No. 874/BD), the injured policeman has hospitalized.
No militant group has owned the responsibility of the attack.
