It is So Very Easy to Dismiss All UFO Research With a Few Keystrokes

Dan Aykroyd Hawks Plastic Skull Vodka and Claims to Have Seen UFOs

Mr. Robert Reyes:

It is so very easy to dismiss all UFO research with a few keystrokes. Granted there is so much dross for every nugget of truth, but when you are so very dismissive of sightings by pilots, military members and law enforcement officers; "Most of the UFO sightings are like the hoax that Akroyd alluded to: Two dudes attached flares to helium balloons and presto, instant UFO's."

If that was all there is to the entire history of UFO events, then it would beg the question of why the witnesses, many of whom are professionals, would risk their reputations, fortunes, and in some cases, their well-being, in order to report what they observed. Perhaps that is your purpose: please members of the public, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Or rather in this case, to the Non-Human Intelligence.

This reminds me of how the properly muzzled and leashed Media handled the Crop Circle Phenomena: Two British gentlemen announced they had done ALL of the Crop Circles. "Journalists" stood around and watched about six feet of crop get flattened with a board and then went home, all smug and self-assured they had just explained every mysterious circle everywhere. I have always wanted to know about the "sources of income" for those two British gentlemen.

Returning to your dismissal of all UFO's as mostly hoaxes, IF you are not on the Black Budget payroll and thus have the excuse of "just doing your job," then please note there is an enormous difference between Investigating the Unexplained and Explaining the Uninvestigated.

Are there hoaxes? Obviously yes. Some hoaxes are just dumb pranks. Some are perpetrated by our own government for the purpose of misdirection from secret research. (See the subject Roswell or UFO Crash Retrievals for details.)

As a serious UFO researcher I will state I don't like "lights in the sky" cases. It is far too easy for just about anyone to misjudge size, speed, or true shape when your eye has little or nothing to provide scale or definition. Obviously some people over-react and assume that every odd light is from the vanguard of the alien armada. This does not mean, QED, every light in the sky is a hoax.

You might want to look at the Phoenix Lights story again. Here we have Governor Symington making a joke out of the whole event, and later, after he was out of office, he admits the craft in the sky was anything but a joke. He observed a highly strange object in the sky and he was convinced it wasn't made by conventional technology. He admits he made a joke out of the event in the hope of defusing a potential panic because of the number of eyewitnesses. I can forgive Mr. Symington because he had a decent motive. I am not so sure about the motives of every media member who so quickly dismisses the entire subject of UFO's because there exists one instance of a hoax.

Each time there is a serious UFO case, the Media relates the event with a smirk and moves on. Again, predictable behavior.

I also don't like personality cults. UFO research does not become more or less credible because of the interest of a movie star. Mr. Akroyd's interest in the subject is welcome, but his celebrity status does not make him an automatic leader in this field. I would also point out many "journalists" follow stars hoping for a controversial sound-byte that will prove the gods have feet of clay.

So, nice try, but your argument won't sway anyone who has spent more than about five minutes on the subject of UFO's.
