Former NBA Player Gives Back to the Community, Youth Get a Positive Outlet
Desmond Ferguson always remained true to his community. A former NBA player, Ferguson's passion for Basketball has taken him all over the world.
Reared in Lansing, Michigan, Ferguson attended Lansing Everett High School, the alma mater of Basketball great Earvin "Magic" Johnson. There he fostered his career on the court.
For the past five years Ferguson has made a great effort to give back to the hands that fed him. He founded the Desmond Ferguson Basketball Clinic, a program that pairs professional athletes with youngsters ages 8-17 teaching them the fundamentals of the game.
Ferguson also developed the Moneyball Pro-Am Summer League, where collegiate and professional players compete on the court. All of the games have free admission and create a sense of unity in Lansing.
