Greenbox Technology Names CEO
Ivo Steklac Brings More Than 20 Years of Experience in the Energy and Utility Industries to the Dynamic Smart Grid Startup

Greenbox Technology, Inc., an
innovative provider of web-based energy management software, today named
energy sector veteran Ivo Steklac as CEO, adding his deep energy industry
experience to the web-savvy team that developed Flash and is now bringing
Web 2.0 technology to the smart
grid. This addition to the leadership team comes at a key juncture for
the company as it makes the transition from early product development and
customer validation to adoption and broader deployment of its energy
management solutions.
"Now is the time to start to change the energy equation and show consumers
what smart energy means for them. Greenbox has the right solution to unlock
the true potential of the smart grid for utilities, consumers, and
commercial product and service providers," said Ivo Steklac. "I am thrilled
to join this impressive and accomplished team and expand the Greenbox Interactive Energy Management
Ecosystem."
Greenbox allows consumers to visualize how much energy they are consuming
in their home and translates that into cost, carbon footprint and community
comparisons. When consumers can link their actions to usage, such as
turning up the air conditioner or running a second refrigerator, studies
have shown they will make meaningful changes to reduce their energy
consumption.
Greenbox provides next-generation utilities with a platform to engage
customers in energy efficiency, demand response, alternative and renewable
energy, carbon reduction, and in the near future distributed energy
resources -- all key elements of the proposed American Clean Energy and
Security Act.
Greenbox is also partnering with the growing industry of energy efficiency
experts, demand response providers, AMI vendors, meter data management
firms, device manufacturers, and system integrators.
Ivo Steklac brings over 20 years of utility and advanced metering
infrastructure (AMI) experience, having held various leadership positions
in general management, sales and marketing, as well as key roles in
engineering and corporate research. Most recently Ivo served as Global Vice
President for Elster Integrated Solutions where he led the global
transition of the business to a smart grid solutions provider.
In 2003, he founded Enspiria Solutions, Inc., a consultancy and systems
integrator with a focus on AMI, demand response, and smart grid. Under
Ivo's leadership Enspiria's AMI practice created business cases and
solution implementation roadmaps for an excess of 40 million meters in
North America and resulted in several successful rate filings.
While at Schlumberger, Ivo led the groundbreaking development of one of the
earliest examples of consumer empowerment and energy management: Puget
Sound Energy's Personal Energy Management program. The program earned Puget
the Edison Electric Institute's Utility of the Year Award in 2001 and
national recognition during the energy crisis of the same year. He holds an
Engineering degree from Queen's University at Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
"Ivo joins us at the perfect time. His broad industry experience and
business leadership will help Greenbox realize its vision of being the
consumer interface for the smart grid," said Jonathan Gay, Greenbox
co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. "We're excited to have him on
board."
