The Gite Gallery, Houston's only exclusively African art gallery, has launched a new Web site (www.thegitegallery.com) featuring an online gallery for the shopping ease of its global customer base. The online gallery showcases original, one-of-a-kind drawings and paintings of several African artists. The art is unframed and affordably priced at $75 to $275 each. The Gite Gallery is located at 2024 East Alabama Street, Houston, Texas 77004.

Lloyd Gite opened The Gite Gallery in 2001 with the express purpose of providing high quality African art to his clients. Gite's shopping travels have taken him to South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, the Ivory Coast, Gambia, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Mali, Cameroon, and many other African destinations. He travels to the continent regularly, hand selecting the art, knowing his purchases help improve the quality of life for the artists' families.

Lloyd's former career in journalism led him to travel extensively throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean. His work garnered many awards including a National Association of Black Journalists Award in the category of International Reporting for a five-part series on South Africa and the Houston Area Urban League's Communicator of the Year Award. He has also been honored as the National Black MBA Communicator of the Year.
