Female Teacher Who Had Sex With Student, 12, Hosting "Hot For Teacher" Night

"A teacher who became notorious in the 1990s for having an affair with a sixth-grader is hosting a "Hot for Teacher" night at a Seattle bar - along with the former student, now her husband.

Bar owner Mike Morris says Mary Kay Letourneau has served her sentence and it's OK for the couple to have some fun.

The 47-year-old Letourneau served seven years in prison after pleading guilty in 1997 to raping Vili Fualaau , now 26. They met when Fualaau was in second grade and began their affair when he was 12 and she was a 34-year-old married mother of four. They were married in 2005 and have two daughters together."

Mary Kay Letourneau served her time, but she wasn't rehabilitated and she didn't learn anything from her years behind bars. When she finished serving her term she immediately resumed her relationship with the student, and finally married him.

Letourneau was a 34-year-old married mother of four when she started having sex with the 12-year-old student. Letourneau committed a serious crime; she abused the student-teacher relationship.

Letourneau has served her time and she is entitled to have fun, but to participate in a "Hot for Teacher" night shows that she is unrepentant. Instead of making light of her crime, Letourneau should be giving speeches warning teachers not to sexually molest their students.

Anyone who attends this "Hot for Teacher" night is condoning the sexual molestation of children, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

If a 34-year-old married father of four was convicted of having sexual intercourse with his 12-year-old student, would a bar owner ask him to host a "Hot for Teacher" night? Of course not, his bar would be burned to the ground.

It may be every young boy's fantasy to have sex with a hot teacher, but there shouldn't be a double standard. Letourneau is a convicted child molester, and the bar owner is a creep for treating Letourneau like a celebrity.
