Adam Lambert and Kris Allen performed three songs apiece on American Idol last night: a favorite past performance from this season; a tune selected by "Idol" creator Simon Fuller; and last but not least, a song co-written by Kara DioGuardi, "No Boundaries."
"It seemed as if both singers had rough spots with the DioGuardi song. Lambert hit the high notes but Allen failed and fell flat; it was clear from the look on his face that he knew he`d been beaten."
"The judges were visibly deflated following both versions of "No Boundaries" each was noncommittal, choosing to sound as if saying farewell to the 23-year-old heartthrob from Conway, Ark., rather than criticize his less-than-pitch-perfect performance."
Backstage, Abdul and Lambert defended the song that got an unenthusiastic reception from Cowell.
"I`m proud of Kara," Abdul declared. "Simon is there to always ruin a moment. He wouldn`t be Simon."
Lambert said the song "really has a great message."
Don`t miss it, the winner will be announced tonight on the final results show.
