IZOD Debuts 'Fast' on Broadway
Historic Indianapolis 500 Museum Exhibit Arrives at Macy's Herald Square
NEW YORK, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation's (NYSE: PVH) IZOD brand is rolling out the black-and-white checkered carpet inNew York City to welcome to Macy's Herald Square a historic exhibit from the Speedway's museum.
The exhibit "In Pursuit of FAST: 100 Years of Indy Racing, Fashion and Design," brings to life a century of American racing through archival elements. To visually tell the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway andIndianapolis 500, hundreds of original photos, graphic designs and artwork from artists such as Leroy Neiman, as well as millions of dollars in vintage cars and memorabilia, will be put on display in the store's aisles and dress its windows on Broadway. The race cars to be on display cross several generations including the famous "Miller #34" of 1928 and the 1963 "Lotus Powered by Ford," are the stars of the largest display of museum assets ever to be seen insideNew York. The exhibit will run from May 14 to June 3, 2009.
In addition, on May 18th, just six days prior to theIndianapolis 500, Macy's and IZOD will welcome the 33-driver Indy 500 field toNew York for their annual photo and interview opportunity. Drivers dressed in race day uniform and hailing from a multitude of countries -- including last year's Indy 500 Rookie-of-the-Year Ryan Hunter-Reay, Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti, Danica Patrick, Marco Andretti and Scott Dixon -- are expected to appear in the traditional Indy 500 line up on Broadway in front of the world famous Macy's Herald Square store. Another "star" appearance will be made by the famous Borg-Warner Trophy, awarded annually to the winner of the race.
"In Pursuit of FAST: 100 Years of Indy Racing, Fashion and Design" marks the kick-off to the national celebration of the 100th birthday of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- home to the Indy 500, the largest one-day sporting event in the world. With access to the Indy Racing League's rich archive of original art and design, IZOD's designers have created vintage, track-inspired and modern performance clothing lines to mark this historic celebration, which is available at Macy's. Macy's is providing a national stage, both in-store and through a micro-site (www.macys.com/IZOD), to highlight the partnership between these three iconic American brands - Macy's, IZOD and the Indy Racing League.
