Heritage is a Private School With Rights to Kick Out
HS Students Learn The True Sense of "Responsibility"
First, I want to THANK YOU! Finally someone who is looking past the "not allowing him to go to prom" part of this story. This whole situation just really bothers me. The fact that his stepfather thinks his case will get anywhere also bothers me.
Heritage is a PRIVATE school with rights to kick out whomever they want. He KNEW the consequences; they were spelled out for him the day he went into his principal's office and asked for permission. I sincerely hope the lawsuit doesn't get anywhere and I'm sure it won't. This isn't a matter of school rights by any means. Cases such as Morse V Frederick and the like only apply to public school settings. I don't understand why people are making such a huge deal about a private school's rights.
I completely agree that it's a waste of the school's money to have to fight this. I just think the whole situation was handled the way it should have been. I completely agree that Tyler Frost just wanted the school's rules to bend around him. As a senior in high school myself, I feel like there's no way he can possibly be "ready" for college and the real world if he can't accept school consequences. I think he just wants attention.
Thanks for your time and have a great day, Gina
