School Shootings Statistics: Still Unsafe According To School Violence Research

A few weeks ago, Americans mourned the 10 year anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting. Ten years after the tragedy occurred, most students and parents assumed school systems would be miles ahead in terms of school security, to prevent another similar crime for occurring in the future. However, after a decade of research it appears America's schools are doing very little to prevent a similar or worse situation.

School Violence Research States Schools Are Still Unprepared For Possible Violence

According to school violence research and mental health lawyer Carolyn Reinach Wolf, "Ten years after the Columbine shooting, most schools are still just as vulnerable to violence. Columbine should have woken the sleeping giant in America's school systems of how to identify and to handle 'at risk' students and prevent a similar attack from happening again. But it didn't, and students are just as vulnerable today as they were 10 years ago to another Columbine-style attack." School shooting statistics show more shootings are likely in the future and schools are simply unprepared.

School Safety Survey: Is Violence Preventable?

After a recent school safety survey, experts agree school violence is not completely preventable, which means the area of security focus cannot remain purely on trying to red flag suspect students, to prevent bullying and to attempt building a harmonious school community. While these methods clearly work, they are not enough to keep students and faculty safe in the classroom. Parents should immediately start demanding accountability and action from their schools, according to school shooting statistics and school violence research teams.

School Violence Research Points To Better Door Locks In Classrooms, Something Still Not Addressed In Schools Across America

During most school shooting situations, the gunman has clear access into classrooms. In some instances the gunman has stolen the keys from a janitor and in others the gunman simply kicks in the classroom doors to reach the victims he seeks to harm.

With national security experts, local law enforcement agencies and the Associated Locksmiths of America and NASA's SATOP program are all supporting The Ultimate Lock door safety locks, it's time for parents to demand school systems take a look at safer locks for classrooms across the country.

The Ultimate Lock systems are the only types on the market which can withstand up to 4,000 pounds of pressure without breaking or unlocking. With a specially engineered steel strike plate and a super hardened steel security bar, the Ultimate Lock classroom safety locks use a patented lockout feature to keep students and faculty safe from possible intruders.

In addition, when the "lockout mode" is engaged, the lock is secure from criminals who may like to pick locks for entry. The "lockout mode" can allow a student or teacher within the classroom to push one button and render any key useless (even if the intruder has taken the door key from a janitor previously during the attack). Overall, this innovatively designed door lock reduces the chance for students and faculty to be attacked during a Columbine-esq attack.
