Back on April 2-3 2001, Jason and Elizabeth's friendship slowly builds into a budding romance, as they start to confront their growing feelings for one another and share an almost kiss at the park. "Don't you know what you are to me?" Jason said to Elizabeth. Even though he doesn't actually say it, it was pretty clear that Jason is starting to fall in love with Elizabeth, and it is shown through action on this YouTube clip posted by rlatson:
It was one year ago today at the penthouse that Jason and Elizabeth discuss the possibility of having a future together with Cameron and Jacob Martin - including THE question that has been almost nine years in the making in this YouTube clip from Petalouda8:

It is no joke that Jason and Elizabeth have a bond that can't be spoken in words - a connection that can't be broken. Though tragic circumstances continue to keep them apart, the friendship, the romance, and the history they share cannot be forgotten. "How can [ABC] deny us this beautiful couple?" said Denise.
