Green Hills Software to Present and Exhibit at Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley 2009

Green Hills Software, Inc., the world
leader in
certified safe and secure real-time operating systems (RTOS), will
participate in a variety of activities next week at the Embedded Systems
Conference in San Jose, California. At booth #822, Green Hills Software
will demonstrate its latest embedded software solutions.
Green Hills Software speakers will present:
Topic: PHASE: Defense Against the Dark Arts
When: Tuesday (March 31, 2009) 8:00am -- 9:15am
Where: San Jose Convention Center, room A8 - Aerospace and Military track
Who: David
Kleidermacher, Chief Technology Officer, Green Hills Software
Synopsis
This session introduces PHASE: Principles of High Assurance Software
Engineering, a practical methodology that developers can apply to create
software that is far more robust than most commercial software. PHASE has
been used in systems that have passed the highest level for aviation safety
certification (DO-178B), the highest level for industrial safety
certification (IEC-16508), and the highest level of security certification
(Common Criteria - ISO/IEC 15408).
Topic: Anatomy of an EAL7 Security Certification
When: Wednesday (April 1, 2009) 1:45pm -- 2:45pm
Where: San Jose Convention Center, ESC Theater - Security track
Who: David
Kleidermacher, Chief Technology Officer, Green Hills Software
Synopsis
A real-time operating system (RTOS) was recently certified to the highest
Common Criteria (ISO/IEC 15408) security level ever achieved for an
operating system. This session will discuss the standard security
specification, including its key functional and assurance requirements,
against which the certification was performed, and how this standard
compares to other security specifications prevalent in commercial software.
The EAL7 process and methodologies will be instructional (and hopefully
inspirational) for developers who want to design for a higher level of
security and reliability.
Topic: Improving Security with MISRA C and MISRA C++
When: Wednesday (April 1, 2009) 8:00am -- 9:15am
Where: San Jose Convention Center, room A7 - Security track
Who: Greg Davis, Director of Engineering, Compilers, Green Hills Software
Synopsis
C and C++ are powerful programming languages, but they permit programming
practices that may compromise the security and robustness of your code.
MISRA C and C++ are a collection of rules and development guidelines that
define a subset of the C and C++ programming languages that are simpler,
easier to understand, and, most importantly, more reliable. This session
will provide an introduction to MISRA C and C++ and how to selectively
apply them to maximize the security of your code.
Green Hills Software will offer, in booth #822, a wide range of interesting
presentations and demonstrations, including:
-- Platform for Secure Networking - a comprehensive platform based on the
certified secure INTEGRITY® RTOS and consisting of: secure
virtualization, advanced file systems, dual TCP/IP v4/v6 host and routing
stack, web server, SSH, SSL, IPSec, wireless communications and security
software, Layer 3 routing and management software, USB, and development
tools that enable developers to create secure, powerful, high-throughput
connected devices with maximum availability in the least time and at the
lowest cost. This Platform will be demonstrated on a Fulcrum Microsystems
"Vegas" reference platform.
-- Platform for Medical Devices - incorporates the safety-certified
INTEGRITY® real-time operating system, a broad range of middleware
including communications protocols and graphics, as well as an integrated
tool suite that addresses software developers' needs throughout the medical
device software development process. INTEGRITY is available with complete
software lifecycle data and supporting evidence for use during the FDA
approval process, and has been used in Class II and Class III devices. This
platform will be demonstrated on the Texas Instruments Zoom(TM) OMAP35x
development kit.
-- The Wi-Fi reference platform incorporates low power 802.11 a/b/g
connectivity along with the latest Wi-Fi security protocols approved by the
Wi-Fi Alliance. Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA2) will be demonstrated
on the Atmel AT91SAM9263 development platform with the Atheros AR6001 radio
module. Additional protocol support for this platform includes Wi-Fi
Protected Setup (WPS) and Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX).
-- INTEGRITY PC(TM) will be demonstrated on a Dell E6500 laptop
showcasing Green Hills Software's secure virtualization technology. This
platform is able to host multiple guest operating systems while maintaining
proven separation and security, and simultaneously hosting real-time-
critical, safety-critical, and security-critical native INTEGRITY
applications.
-- A representative from Software Acceleration, a division of Green Hills
Software, will be available to discuss the company's proven methodology for
optimizing software performance that significantly increases performance
for products based on 32-bit or 64-bit microprocessors and compiled
software languages such as C or C++. Software Acceleration is the only
company that provides its customers a contractual guarantee that states, if
the agreed upon software performance objectives are not met, the customer
will not pay.
-- Representatives from Green Hills Software and RADVISION will be
available to discuss the benefits derived from the integration of the
RADVISION SIP protocol development suite with the Green Hills Platform for
Secure Networking. The combination secures confidential content from
malicious attacks and unwanted access by relying on the industry's most
trusted real-time operating system, INTEGRITY, and supports the security
policies and foundational architecture to prevent the wide range of attacks
inherent to IP-based services while guaranteeing the required service
quality.
