Successful Electronic Voting Event Delivers New NDP Leader for Ontario

Intelivote Systems Inc. (ISI) provided their innovative electronic voting technology to members of the Ontario New Democratic Party (ONDP) at a Leadership Convention held recently in Hamilton, Ontario.

Intelivote provided 23,842 voters with the convenience of casting their votes from any location in the world with Intelivote's technology. Advanced voting through two channels, mail-in ballots and internet voting, was offered to voting members up to two weeks prior to the convention date March 7th. On Convention Day, ONDP members cast their votes using both the internet and telephones. Members cast ballots from every province in Canada, 13 different US states, and 8 international locations including Australia and Kuwait in advance and on Convention Day.

ONDP President Sandra Clifford said, "The party wanted to ensure all members had an equal opportunity to cast a ballot in the one-member one-vote election mandated by the party's current constitution. A combination of mail-in balloting and the electronic voting provided by Intelivote met all the security and auditability requirements and provided us with immediate vote results."

"We knew the Ontario NDP required a company that could ensure the security, integrity and auditability of the voting process," ISI's President and Founder Dean Smith said, "and our capability to deliver to those requirements, coupled with our flexibility to address advanced preferential balloting, and multiple rounds of balloting on Convention Day, really set us apart."

Bill Reno, President of Union Calling Inc., whose company helped in the planning and execution of the voting event stated, "Intelivote is a world leader in multi-channel voting systems and was the only bidder for the project with the capability of meeting the volume, security and reliability requirements of the technologically complex voting process."

The Saskatchewan NDP has also selected Intelivote to conduct their Leadership Election on June 6th in Regina. Provincial Secretary Deb McDonald attended the Ontario Leadership Convention with Party Vice-President Stephen Lloyd who acted as election observers at the event.

Intelivote Systems Inc. is a Nova Scotia based electronic voting company that has provided internet and telephone voting services for municipal and union elections across Canada and the United Kingdom. For more information, visit www.intelivote.com.
