FORT WORTH, Texas , March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A slumping economy has left consumers with at least one benefit. Great deals abound on travel to many destinations around the world say travel experts. So if a getaway is in the back of your mind, now is a good time to act.

American Airlines Vacations (www.aavacations.com), a division of American Airlines, has low-priced vacation package deals available to destinations in theCaribbean,Las Vegas andEurope, among other spots. In theCaribbean, AA Vacations "Fall in Love with St. Kitts" promotion features up to three free nights with a qualifying stay, plus special bonus offers such as local discounts, dining credits and free breakfast. Book by Dec. 12, 2009, and travel May 1-Dec. 19, 2009.

In Vegas, fewer conventions and lots of rooms mean bargains can be found at some of the best hotels on the strip.Las Vegas hotel rooms through AA Vacations start at just $31 a night, with complete air-inclusive packages available at bargain rates. Travel dates vary by hotel, but generally, travel through the end of June or July 2009 to get the best deals.

A weak economy and a favorable exchange rate have even put some of Europe's luxury hotels in reach. "Along with attractive prices, American Airlines Vacations lets travelers choose only the things they want out of their trip," says Suzanne Rubin, president of American Airlines Vacations. "You can choose a complete combination of air travel, hotel room and rental car, or perhaps just lodging and sightseeing activities."

One helpful feature: the AA Vacations website allows travelers to play "what if" as they plan their vacation by comparing individual parts of their trip and then seeing how various choices affect the overall price.

Travelers can also save money through AA Vacations by redeeming American Airlines AAdvantage miles to pay for all or part of their land arrangements, including hotel, and car reservations and activities.

"You can pay with AAdvantage miles alone, or with a combination of miles and a credit card," Rubin notes. "We're the only vacation company to offer AAdvantage members that opportunity."

American also offers money-saving deals through its NetSAAver and AAirmail e-mail offerings, including information about fare sales, discounted weekend getaways, and other special offers. Sign up for the free service at www.aa.com/email. The airline also offers a free downloadable desktop tool, called DealFinder, that automatically alerts travelers via their computer when a low fare is available to a destination they want to visit. DealFinder can be downloaded at www.aa.com/dealfinder.
