Another Round of Hunger Stike in Bhutan

Mr. N.L Katwal had put off the hunger strike and is stable. However, another ten political prisoners had taken to the hunger strike starting today, demanding the institution of the independent judiciary in Bhutan.

They were sentenced to lengthy sentences by the judiciary of absolute monarchy era. Even after the adoption of the constitution, the fundamental human rights are not accorded to them and continue to deny them the access to counsel so that they can fight their case appropriately.

The participants of hunger strikers are:

2. Om Nath Adhikari
3. Karenda Kheder
4. Govinda Nerula
5. Chatra Bhadur Tamang
6. Ram Bahadur Chamling
7. Shanti Ram Acharya
8. Kumar Gautam
9. Sukman Mongar
10. Hastha Rai
