National Crime Prevention Council Responds to McGruff the Crime Dog Assault

The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) issued a statement today in response to the recent assault on McGruff the Crime Dog; as he was handing out fliers to children, by a bus driver in Washington, D.C. The bus driver, Shawn Brim, was quickly apprehended by D.C. police officers.

Brim later said that he was trying to be funny. "It is sad and unfortunate that Mr. Brim believes violence is either acceptable or funny. NCPC applauds the swift actions of the officers to apprehend the suspect. McGruff is loved by children and adults across the country and his slogan, "Take A Bite Out Of Crime," reminds Americans that everyone can do their part."
