The EntreTech Forum Presents ... CLEANTECH -- Power Wars -- Who Wins in the End and Where Does Venture Investing and Academia Fit?
BOSTON , March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- On March 17th the EntreTech Forum's presents a triple play of experts from coal, marine and wind CLEANTECH companies across different categories of fundraising to date to address the context of business formation and investment and the advanced research emerging from our leading universities and the entrepreneurs and visionaries who are developing the commercial potential of this research.
Enormous amounts of financial, entrepreneurial and technological resources have been invested in clean technology enterprises in the past century, with mixed success. With $100/barrel oil, a greener future seemed at hand. At $40/barrel oil, how has the future changed for our panelists? To what extent is CLEANTECH a solution to a pressing problem or a solution being applied to what no longer is a problem?
Our panel will address those issues and questions and involves three interwoven tracks of energy:
-- Hydromethanation, by which coal, petroleum coke and biomass are
converted directly into low-cost, clean, pipeline quality natural gas,
while allowing for the capture and sequestration of carbon dioxide
(CO2).
-- "WaveWater", is investigating the feasibility of using wave
energy to manufacture fresh water using seawater reverse-osmosis (SWRO)
desalination units.
-- Advanced energy storage systems to transform wind and other intermittent
energy sources into dispatchable, firm power sources suitable for
peaking, intermittent and baseload generation.
