Letter to the Editor
Hansen and Climate change
Dear Editor,
Your news is a helpful summary. It is difficult to judge whether the Earth has its own agenda on what temperature it keeps, indeed Geology shows it varies considerably. However, to imagine that incinerating the Worlds forests or cutting them down and generally behaving like a swarm of locusts can have no effect is amazing. Perhaps it follows similar thinking by financiers that lending far more than can ever be recovered is good economics.
I have been studying these things for some time and think that if we confront reality there are solutions. Heads in the sand and denial are not included. From my research we could solve the Energy crisis by investing in Solar Power Stations, providing energy and ending slash and burn to provide materials for bio fuels. The answers are there but first you have to look at and recognise the problem. I don't know exactly what Hansen has done but at least he appears to be able to look.
