Quantapoint PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 9.0 Laser Scan Data Software Begin Internal Testing
Laser Models Put Reality on the Desktop and in CAD Software to Cut Remodeling and Design Time and Eliminate Rework from Clashes and Interferences
PITTSBURGH, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantapoint (http://www.quantapoint.com) -- provider of laser scanning technology and services that helps companies achieve Zero-Defect Projects(TM) -- announced that internal testing has begun for PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 9.0. PRISM 3D enables 3D laser scan data to be accessed directly as high-definition Quantapoint Laser Models(TM) (not fuzzy "point clouds") and photo-realistic Laser Images(TM). QuantaCAD enables the same 3D laser data to be accessed directly within design software such as Autodesk AutoCAD, AVEVA PDMS, AVEVA Review, Bentley AutoPlant, Bentley Microstation V8XM, Intergraph PDS, Intergraph SmartPlant Review and more.
The themes for the PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 9.0 releases are "increasing design efficiency" and "improving design and laser data interoperability". Some of the major capabilities include:
-- SmartPlant 3D, SmartMarine 3D and SmartPlant Review: High-definition
Laser Models may be accessed directly in SmartPlant products, providing
clear information for clash-free designs.
-- Increased Version and Plug-in Support: Support for AutoCAD 2009
(including the "ribbon" menu), SmartPlant Review 2008, PDS
Frameworks, AutoPlant Structural and CADWorx, which increases
interoperability and the flexibility of using Laser Models during
design.
-- State Manager: Save and recall the laser data state (loaded Laser
Models, Laser Images and views) so users can quickly resume work instead
of having to manually reload laser scan data.
-- Tag Points: Create and edit tag points (specific 3D locations, such as
tie points) directly in the laser data so users can access consistent
design starting and ending points across the team.
-- Grouped Clashes: Grouping drastically reduces the number of clashes
between Laser Models and CAD Models, eliminating false clashes and
helping to more quickly identify critical clashes.
-- Embedded Laser Images: Use photo-realistic Laser Images directly for 3D
design reviews.
-- Memory Optimization: Significantly optimized memory management so more
Laser Models and Laser images may be accessed during design, providing a
more complete facility view.
-- Improved AutoCAD 2D Drawing Support: Support for AutoCAD 2D drawing
elements (dimensions, etc.), so fabrication or other drawings can be
created from Laser Models.
-- Export Laser Models: Laser Models may be exported as "Optimized
Point Clouds" (more dense and visually clear than fuzzy "point
clouds") in formats compatible with NavisWorks and more.
-- SolidEdge File Import: Siemens SolidEdge files may be imported into
PRISM 3D to display with and clash against Laser Models, enabling
SolidEdge to be used with laser data for design.
-- Enhanced Installation: Unified installer for standalone and network
PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD with support for "silent" and
"push" install/uninstall, enabling easier installation and
upgrades.
-- Flexible Licensing: Quantapoint software are now integrated and may be
licensed monthly for standalone or network usage, providing more
flexibility based on project or program needs.
By using PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD to put reality on the desktop and in design software, clients have typically been able to reduce remodeling time by 85% (by using Laser Models instead of CAD remodeling or as a basis to remodel), decrease design time by 60% (by accessing more complete and clear Laser Models and Laser Images for design) and cut rework from design clashes by 85% (by correcting clashes between the Laser Models and the new CAD design).
Quantapoint will soon begin external testing of PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 9.0. If you are interested in testing the software with your current Quantapoint data or a sample data set or would like a preview demonstration, please visit http://www.quantapoint.com/qp/contact/ or e-mail info@quantapoint.com and enter "PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 9.0" beta test.
About Laser Models and Laser Images
Laser Models(TM) -- winner of both an R&D 100 award and a FIATECH CETI award as a significant advancement -- are a unique Quantapoint technology that integrates all laser scan data to provide detailed, high-definition 3D solid "models" of a facility. Laser Models are visually clear and include fine details, unlike older "point cloud" technology whose sparse measurements make it difficult to visualize or understand the facility and more likely to miss critical design details. Laser Models provide more complete information for more complete designs.
Quantapoint Laser Images are photo-realistic, panoramic images of laser scans from individual laser scanner locations ("scanner-centric"). Because Laser Images are 360-degree images, they may be panned and zoomed like virtual reality programs to view the surrounding area. Laser Images are ideal for "virtual" site visits due to their high resolution.
About Quantapoint
Quantapoint provides laser scanning technology and services that help our clients achieve Zero-Defect Projects(TM). We "digitize" facilities using patented laser scanning technology and then use our award-winning Laser Model(TM) (http://www.quantapoint.com/capabilities/lasermodels) technology to create a high-resolution Digitized Facility(TM) that can be accessed directly or within various CAD packages. Quantapoint also provides analysis, quality control, documentation and decision support services to eliminate the most common sources of preventable project defects from across the project lifecycle (http://www.quantapoint.com/capabilities). It is Quantapoint's unique combination of innovative laser scanning technology and professional services that help our clients achieve Zero-Defect Projects(TM), beating project budgets and schedules by 15% or more and saving millions of dollars and thousands of man-hours.
