New "Tiny" Items Selling Out in Stores Everywhere

Although retail sales have been sluggish, there is still hope for many gift and toy retailers who have started offering new and less expensive items like Tynies (www.tynies.com), miniature handmade glass animal figurines that retail for $2.99 each. With their broad appeal and "tiny" price tag, these mini mammals and insects have been best-sellers in stores across the US. They come in 40 different shapes, each with a three letter name like Hop the grasshopper, Kay the ladybug, and Bob the penguin, along with 37 other members. "Our customers love Tynies because they are really cute and unique, and their price makes them accessible to everyone," said Melissa Moore, owner of Toy Crazy toy stores located in Malibu and Brentwood, Calif.

Tynies are the invention of Sean and Jay Demircift, brothers from Southern California who have been involved in the toy and gift industry for over 15 years. "I was inspired to create Tynies after a trip to Italy, where I saw larger glass animal figurines that were much more expensive. I knew that if I created something similar, but much smaller and less expensive, our customers would love them," said Jay Demircift. Since their inception, over 25,000 Tynies have been sold and new styles are planned to be released three times per year. Each Tynie is featured on their Web site, www.tynies.com, along with their "story," which explains that they are from Mini-opolis and that their motto is, "Good things come in small packages!" Soon, collectors will be able to customize their own Tynies via their Web site where the body, limb and facial feature of each figurine can be individually selected to create a one-of-a-kind Tynie.

The Tynies collection will make their first official appearance to retailers at the US Toy Fair 2009, which is the largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere. It will take place at the Jacob K. Javits in New York City, from February 15th to 18th and Tynies will be on display at booth #1763L.

Tynies are available at toy and gift stores nationwide. A store locator is available on their site at www.tynies.com. For more information or to purchase, please call 866-689-6437 or email info@tynies.com.
