What Do Your Valentine's Day Flowers Say About You?
KENT, Ohio, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Every Valentine's Day, sweethearts and
loved ones search for the perfect gift. So what kind of flowers will be most
popular this year? That may depend on the age of the sender, according to
OASIS(R) Floral Products, the world's largest provider of floral foam and
flower accessories to florists throughoutNorth America.
"When it comes to flower arrangements, there's traditional to trendy and
everything in-between," said Jacque Sir Louis, marketing manager for
Smithers-Oasis North America. "We're finding there's a distinct difference
between the generations; the type of flowers you give depends greatly on your
age and your lifestyle," he said.
While Baby Boomers are often more traditional in floral purchases,
preferring basket arrangements and flowers like roses, Gen Y is open to sleek
glass, colored wire embellishments and flowers like gerberas.
"Gen Y consumers are looking for embellishments and unique textures in
their flower choices," Sir Louis said.
Boomers prefer floral arrangements that reflect more traditional values.
"Their selections tend to blend more with home and family," Sir Louis said.
"You will see more arrangements in baskets and ceramics with design style that
reflects their taste, their success in life, and their penchant for creating a
feeling of 'home,'" he said.
