Border Patrol Agent Sentences Commuted at Eleventh Hour
By Alan Gray, NewsBlaze
As one of his last official actions, at the eleventh hour, President Bush commuted the sentences of US Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean.
Both agents are to be released on March 20th, after serving two years in a federal penitentiary. President Bush decided to commute their sentences, leaving in place the terms of supervised release and the monetary fines, rather than issuing full pardons.
The federal conviction will remain on their records, forever limiting their employment options and financial lives.
The US Department of Justince released the following information:
Jose Alonso Compean - El Paso, Texas

The drug smuggler they injured, illegal alien Osvaldo Aldrete Davila, was a multiple offender, a fact the prosecutors hid from the jury. The smuggler's vehicle contained a massive 800 pounds of drugs. He has since been arrested on later charges of smuggling - by the same judge that sentenced Compean and Ramos - and is serving a sentence of 9.5 years
