Fidelis Security Systems Awarded Patent for the Prevention of Data Leakage

Next-Generation Data Leakage Prevention Platform's Patented Technology Sets New Standard for Content Control

WALTHAM, Ma. &BETHESDA, Md., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Fidelis Security Systems, the leader in next-generation data leakage prevention (DLP) solutions, today announced the award of U.S. Patent No. 7,467,202 B2 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. With the granting of this patent, Fidelis Security Systems becomes the first in the DLP industry to develop a technology platform--deep session inspection(TM) platform--capable of high-performance network content analysis, resulting in an enterprise's ability to actually prevent the leakage of protected or sensitive information such as credit card data, personal identity information, classified data, digital assets, and intellectual property.

"Unlike previously awarded patents in our industry that claimed to embody the technology necessary to prevent data leakage, the Fidelis Security Systems' patent moves beyond the passive approaches of monitoring and reporting to true risk mitigation with technology capable of real-time deep session inspection of content and provides the resulting context of that information flow--giving enterprises the ability to prevent extrusions of data that are in violation with their policies," said Gene Savchuk, Co-Founder, CTO, and inventor of the recently-awarded patent of Fidelis Security Systems. "Once again Fidelis is leading the way in technology innovation by providing global enterprises with a powerful tool to stop data leakage and protect their brand, intellectual property, and resources."

The patented deep session inspection technology in the Fidelis Extrusion Prevention System(R), Fidelis XPS(TM), provides for the reassembly of complete client-server conversation streams, applies decoders, and/or decompressors, and analyzes the resulting data stream using multi-dimensional content profiling and/or weighted keyword-in-context. This patented method of deep session inspection detects the extrusion of the data even if the data has been modified from its original form or document type. The decoders also can uncover hidden transport mechanisms such as e-mail attachments and detect unauthorized encrypted sessions--stopping data transfers deemed malicious. The Fidelis XPS patented technology analyzes in real-time, not via disk, with network speeds exceeding Gigabit-speed--giving enterprises the assurance that prevention of data leakage is possible at the speed of business.

"Fidelis Security Systems' patent seems to specifically address its central claims as a data loss prevention company," said Nick Selby, Vice President and Research Director at technology industry analyst company The 451 Group. "Fidelis continues to expand its core offering, which addresses important trends in data protection, and, if it works as described, suggests a larger utility than strictly anti-data leakage."
