SonicWALL Unveils New Family of High-Performance Network Security Appliances
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SonicWALL, Inc.
(Nasdaq: SNWL), a leading secure network infrastructure company, today
announced the SonicWALL Aventail E-Class Secure Remote Access (SRA), which
delivers secure, easy-to-manage remote access control for the mobile
enterprise. The Aventail E-Class SRA is built on the powerful SonicWALL
Aventail SSL VPN platform, enabling it to provide access control by detecting
the security of the end point, protecting applications and connecting
authorized employees and business partners for up to 2,000 concurrent users
from a single appliance.
As businesses increasingly look to provide their employees with the
flexibility to work from home, on the move or in the office, they must
carefully consider the implications of managing an increasingly distributed
network. With users logging on from multiple locations, IT managers need to
equip themselves with network security solutions that can monitor, grant and
deny network access, in addition to protect from threats of all origins.
"The trend toward businesses promoting flexible work schemes continues,"
said Chris Witeck, Director of Product Management at SonicWALL. "Our newest
addition to the SonicWALL Aventail line provides mid-sized and enterprise
level companies with a security solution that is highly scalable, easy to
deploy and the appliance they need to allow their workforce to work where they
want, when they want. The Aventail E-Class SRA provides maximum IT control,
reducing administration costs and increasing worker productivity."
The Aventail E-Class uses a three-pronged approach to provide complete
end-user and network protection; Detect, Protect and Connect.
Detect
SonicWALL's Recurring End Point Control (EPC) provides the administrator
the ability to maintain network integrity through end-point security
assessments at log-in and at regular intervals. With the capability to select
the regularity of the scans, when the system detects a change in a device's
security status, the session will be terminated automatically. This feature
then prompts the user to log back in. Recurring EPC delivers NAC-level
security by providing that the ongoing integrity of remote devices
consistently adheres to corporate IT policy requirements.
Protect
The SonicWALL Aventail E-Class SRA is designed for a novice user to be
able to set up and manage. Through its simplified appliance installation and
policy configuration, The SonicWALL Aventail E-Class SRA can be quickly
deployed to secure the network.
This new offering introduces enhanced user monitoring, thereby giving
administrators' substantial improvements in measuring user activity as well as
troubleshooting connectivity and policy issues using the management console.
Able to view, filter and dissect information in a variety of ways, the manager
obtains a level of granular control that protects applications on a policy
basis, only allowing access to authorized devices.
Connect
Once connected, the IT manager can continue to provide optimum user
experience while maintaining security through the use of SonicWALL's
redesigned WorkPlace Portal. The portal affords the IT manager with even
greater control over the organization of content contained within the
WorkPlace, such as displayed shortcuts, file downloads, intranet browsing and
filtering. Now able to upload their own styles and layouts, administrators can
even provide customization on a community or group basis, designed
specifically for its needs.
"Since its acquisition of Aventail a year ago, SonicWALL has strived to
push itself to deliver strong offerings for the enterprise market," said
Michael Suby, Director of Stratecast (a Division of Frost & Sullivan). "The
SonicWALL Aventail SRA appliance clearly continues the Aventail heritage of
enterprise-class SSL VPN solutions. Furthermore, with the Channel 2.0
initiative, SonicWALL's select channel partners have both product and means to
address large and complex secure remote access challenges."
Additional features of the SonicWALL Aventail E-Class SRA series include:
-- Broader Cross Platform Support: Cross-platform support now extends
Connect Tunnel EPC and Advanced EPC functionality to Macintosh and Linux,
making it even easier to upgrade away from IPSec.
-- Enhanced Authentication: SonicWALL Aventail E-Class SRA solutions
support Vasco, RSA, Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, and ACE authentication as
well as One-Time Password (OTP)generation for two-factor authentication.
-- Zone Based Provisioning: Enabling administrators to extend control over
what access agents are deployed based upon the remote user's End Point Control
classification.
