Another Complaint Moved Against Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan for Smoking
By Aman Loonaa
It looks like that Ajay Devgan did not learn anything from the complaint made against him for smoking at the Chandigarh Airport. While shooting for a movie at the Kurali (Punjab) railway station, he just not violated the tobacco control law himself but also had Salman Khan for his company. As a result, on the basis of video recording and television transmission by a news channel, another complaint against both of them has been lodged with the "Railway Protection Force" here today. A complaint was also registered with the Chandigarh Police yesterday against Ajay Devgan.
The complaint has been moved by Hemant Goswami, a social activist who is also a member of the National Steering Committee on Tobacco Control formed by the Union Ministry of Health. Goswami has also asked the Indian railways to cancel the permission to shoot on the railway premises if the film crew team did not adhere to the law of the land.
It has been mentioned in the complaint by Goswami that both Sh. Ajay Devgan S/o Sh. Veeru Devgan aged around 39 year and Sh. Salman Khan S/o Salim Khan aged around 43 years had both violated the provisions of section 4 of the "Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA)," Section 278, 290 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 167 of the Railways Act 1989.
Hemant also demanded action against the Station Master, the police officers and other government servant and other people under Section 176 of the IPC as they were duty bound under section 39 of the Criminal Procedure Code to provide information to the nearest Magistrate or police officer about the offence of Section 278 committed by Mr. Ajay Devgan and Mr. Salman Khan. Since the station master and other public officers were also authorised to take action as per the Schedule III to be read with Rule 3 and 5 of "Prohibition of Smoking in Public Places Rules, 2008" and they had failed to take cognizance so action under section 166 of the IPC has also requested against all such public servants.
