Beard Chosen Again as Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House

WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Daniel P. Beard has been sworn in as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) ofthe United States House of Representatives for the 111th Congress.

Beard, who was appointed the CAO by Speaker Nancy Pelosi on February 15, 2007, is responsible for a workforce of 1,500 people who provide a wide array of services to House Members and their staff, including budgetary oversight and management, logistical and operational support, procurement and computer services and disaster preparedness programs.

During the 110th Congress, Beard successfully launched and executed Speaker Pelosi's Green the Capitol Initiative, oversaw sweeping upgrades to the House's food services operation and championed several programs aimed at improving employment issues within the institution.

"I am pleased Mr. Beard has been reappointed as the Chief Administrative Officer of the House," said Speaker Pelosi. "I am confident during the 111th Congress he will continue the exemplary commitment and service he has brought to the position."

Beard is the third CAO for the House of Representatives. Mr. Beard returned to the House at the start of the 110th Congress after serving as a senior advisor for the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. Before that, Beard had a 25-year career in government, which included positions in the White House, the United States Department of the Interior,the United States Senate and on the staff of the House Appropriations and Natural Resources Committees.
