Oprah Winfrey Embarrassed By Her Weight

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Winfrey admitted in this month's edition of O magazine that her entire body hadn't been featured on the cover last year because she was embarrassed by her weight.

"Here I am one of the most visible people in the world, trying to hide my body," Winfrey said. http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2009/01/bummer-oprahs-depressed.php

If Paris Hilton published a magazine I would expect the beautiful socialite to occasionaly grace the cover. Hilton is all about superficiality and vanity, and her perfectly made-up face is the embodiment of those dubious traits.

Oprah Winfrey is neither beautiful nor superficial, she is an intelligent woman who has built a multi-billion empire dispensing advice, gossip and pseudo-spirituality to her adoring female fans.

There is no reason why Oprah's mug should grace every cover of her magazine, it's her brains and not her homely face that is responsible for her success.

Oprah is one of the most visible people in the world to a large extent because she can't keep away from the spotlight. There is no need for Oprah to hide her body, her fans love would love her even if she tipped the scales at 300 pounds. But if she wants to reach beyond her female demographics she needs to learn a little humility and not appear on every damn cover of her magazine.
