Man Finds His Stolen Vehicle Driving Behind Him

Early Wednesday morning on December 31, 2008 a man reported his 1992 Honda Civic as stolen to the Citrus Heights Police Department.

At approximately 9:13 a.m. while driving into the City of Folsom on Greenback Lane the Victim noticed his reported stolen vehicle behind him. He lost sight of the vehicle after crossing the Rainbow Bridge but soon located it parked in the Wal Mart parking lot at 1018 Riley Street.

Officers and a plain clothes detective set up in the area waiting to see if the suspected thief would return to the vehicle. The suspect, James William Brannen entered the vehicle and began to drive away. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested Brannen without incident. Brannen was also found to be in possession of multiple shaved keys.

James William Brannen, 43 years old, of Citrus Heights, was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, and a parole violation. Brannen is being held without bail for the parole violation and $65,000 bail for the other charges.

Brannen was recently released from Duel Vocational Institute in Tracy, CA on December 27, 2008.
