The Association of American Law Schools Announces William A. Galston to Give Keynote Luncheon Address
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- William Galston, Ezra K.
Zilkha Chair in Governance Studies and senior fellow at the Brookings
Institution,Washington, D.C., and former deputy assistant for domestic policy
to President Clinton, will give the keynote luncheon address at the
Association of American Law Schools (AALS) 2009 Annual Meeting inSan Diego.
Dr. Galston specializes in issues of American public philosophy and political
institutions.
After serving as a sergeant inthe United States Marine Corps and then
receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1973, Galston taught for
nearly a decade in the Department of Government at the University of Texas. In
the 1990s he served as deputy assistant for domestic policy to President
Clinton and later as executive director for the National Commission on Civic
Renewal. From 1998 until 2005 he was professor of public policy at the
University of Maryland. Formerly the Saul Stern Professor and dean at the
School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland, he is the author of
eight books and more than one hundred articles on questions of political and
moral philosophy, American politics and public policy. His most recent book is
Public Matters: Politics, Policy, and Religion in the 21st Century (Rowman &
Littlefield, 2005.)
The luncheon will occur on Thursday, January 8, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00
p.m. at the San Diego Marriott and Marina.
