Begging for a Bailout
By Nancy Morgan
The opening days of 2009 are seeing an ever increasing number of applicants begging for a bailout. Democrat Governors need $1 trillion to stay afloat. The steel industry is crying 'we need help', and 36 colleges have organized to make a formal appeal to the federal treasury.
Hey, even the victims of the Bernie Madoff scandal may be repaid. With our tax dollars. This is called rewarding failure, and it's the new policy in DC. It's also called socialism. And 'change'. Happy New Year.
As you read this, Obama is in consultation with other Democrat leaders picking the lucky winners of the bailout lotto. The Democrat Congress expects to fast-track Obama's $1trillion 'stimulus' (translation: spending) plan, with possible passage in one week. Don't you just want to spit? Oh well, there's still lots of:
GOOD NEWS:
The US officially handed over security of Iraq's Green Zone to Iraqis and U.S. troop deaths for the year in Afghanistan and Iraq are the lowest combined since the Iraq war began in 2003. I guess this means we won.
As usual, the old media pretty much ignored this headline news. They were too busy rhapsodizing about Obama's pecs. Media malfeasance is now becoming the norm, as I outline in 'Our Dangerous Media.'
Speaking of media malfeasance, CNN actually lumped Sarah Palin in with their list of crooks, sex addicts and corrupt politicians of 2008. Their outrageous efforts to marginalize Palin aren't having the desired effect, as Palin is listed by oddmakers as frontrunner for the 2012 GOP nomination.
Strangers in the night: The top hierarchy of al-Qaeda has taken such a hit from US missile strikes (Predator drones) that Osama bin Laden and his deputy have had to replace people in the terrorist organisation with men (and women and children) they have never met. I'm smiling.
ENCOURAGING TRENDS:
More and more are speaking out against the hoax of global warming. And it's actually getting reported: President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic, the European Union's new figurehead, stated that climate change is a dangerous myth and has compared the EU to a Communist state.
Meanwhile, an environmental minister in Dublin flatly stated that "global warming is a con."
A 'pioneering' climate change project in Africa run by Robin Birley, the socialite, has been accused by the European commission, its main donor, of making unsubstantiated claims about its environmental impact. Ya think?
THE TRUTH BEHIND THE LIES:
As we speak, Democrat Al Franken is being declared winner of the Minnesota Senate race. Before the 'recount', incumbent Norm Coleman led by 400 plus votes. Surprise, after a series of questionable legal rulings form the Democrat led recount panel, Franken magically came out the winner. The Wall Street Journal has an excellent article on The Funny Business In The Minnesota Senate Recount.
With Israel's assault on Gaza heating up, I heartily recommend a video David Horowitz released through his Terrorism Awareness Project. It lays out very succinctly the history of the creation of Israel and the lies of the terrorists and their enablers. P.S. The Palestinians are not the victims! See video here and please forward to your friends.
GOVERNMENT AT WORK:
California will run out of money by next month. If you file a California tax return, don't expect to get a refund. Instead, you'll be issued a 'registered warrant'. Try spending that....
Despite California's dire financial condition, bureaucrats continue to impose job cutting regulations. The latest: Barring a reprieve, regulations set to take effect next month could force thousands of clothing retailers and thrift stores to throw away trunkloads of children's clothing. Why? They now have to be tested for lead before re-selling them.
Cal. state regulators are getting ready to curb the growing power gluttony of TV sets by drafting the nation's first rules requiring retailers to sell only the most energy-efficient models, starting in 2011. Good-bye Circuit City. Oops, didn't they already go under?
On the federal level, a commission is advocating a 50% increase in gas and diesel fuel taxes.
CULTURE:
By a margin of 45-40, poll respondents selected Franklin Delano Roosevelt (remember the New Deal?) as a better president than Ronald Reagan. On the bright side, seventy-seven percent of Americans are aware that the U.S. media is making the economic situation worse by projecting fear into people's minds.
Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD) has launched a first-of-its-kind regional campaign aimed at winning approval for same-sex marriage in the New England region by 2012.
A 'father' who was ordered to pay child support decided he didn't want to. So he killed his son. A good argument for the death penalty.
After this depressing news, I'll try to leave you with a smile on your face:
For all the bubbas out there, some interesting news. According to a new study, people do appear more attractive to both sexes when they've had a drink and have their 'beer goggles' on. See how it works here.
