The Assamese boy who helped in reporting the rape case of Assamese girl in Gurgaon on December 30, 2008 is under a threat by the gangs of the rapists. A delegation of human rights activists and civil society met Commissioner Police of Gurgaon yesterday.
A momo supplier boy, who reported the rape case to NE Support Centre & Helpline (NESC&H), was adducted by goons of the rapist on New Year's evening to the same house where the rape took place and released with a threat of dare consequences, if he fails to bring the victim and withdraw the case against the rapist by the next day.
Early morning yesterday, the paniced Assamese boy informed NESC&H about the threat to him and the rape victim's life, a delegation of human rights activists and civil society led by Dr. John Dayal, Member of National Integration Council and founding patron of NESC&H, filed a complaint against the goons of the rapist at the Gurgaon Sector 40 Police Station and later met Mr. Mahendra Lal, Commissioner Police of Gurgaon.
Dr. John Dayal says, "The lives for the outsiders, particularly of North Eastern girls, in Gurgaon, became very unsafe place." For this he has appealed to Mr. Mahendra to take up alertness to his police cop.
Lodging complaint at the local police stations has become a very difficult, particularly when the incidents happened to North East communities. The recent case is about two North East girls at Sikanderpur, where rape attempted at a wee hour on December 13, 2008. Girls were molested and beaten severely to yield the sexual favour demanded by the landlord and his companion. The oral complaint filed by the girls at their hospital bed was manipulated by Sub-Inspector Mr. Aberaj and tempered the lines of their written complaints.
Dr. Dayal urged Mr. Mahendra Lal to instruct his subordinate police officers to look into these matters faced the by North East communities in Gurgaon.
The delegation was represented by Dr. John Dayal, Advocate Lansinglu Rongmei - President, Madhu Chandra - Spokes Person, members Dr. Alana Golmei and Ms. Mandali of NESC&H.
