"Charles Barkley told an officer following his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol that he was in a rush because he was on his way pick up a 'hot' girl for sex, according to a police report obtained by the Smoking Gun.

When Barkley was arrested in Scottsdale, Ariz., early Wednesday after running a stop sign, the former NBA forward allegedly told the officer: 'You want to know the truth? I was gonna drive around the corner and get a b--- j--,' according to the notes in the incident report. fox news

Charles Barkley is a retired NBA legend, an NBA TV commentator, and an aspiring politician. Barkley has two nicknames: Sir Charles and Knucklehead. It's safe to conclude that when he was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and looking for a prostitute, he was acting like a knucklehead and not like Sir Charles.

Barkley has often argued that sports stars are not role models, and this tawdry episode won't tarnish his legacy as an NBA legend. But it won't exactly do wonders for his political aspirations, the American public is sick and tired of politicians who put their carnal desires ahead of their official duties and responsibilities. Barkley has expressed a desire to one day run for senator, but will the public elect a knucklehead who might miss an important vote because he was too busy searching for a hot girl who might service him with a BJ?

We already have too many venial men like John Edwards and Larry Craig in public office, Barkely should forget about his dream of running for public office.

"'I am disappointed that I put myself in that situation,' Barkley said Wednesday in a statement to The Associated Press. 'The Scottsdale police were fantastic. Now it is a legal matter and I will not comment further until it is resolved.'" fox news

Barkley many not have any further comments, but pundits are under no such legal restraint and we are free to speak our minds. Barkley has not only disappointed himself but his legion of fans, but at least he's too old and he's been retired too long to be a disappointment to young people. Regardless of what Barkley thinks, athletics are role models and their knucklehead-behavior is often imitated by their young fans. Barkely has disappointed voters, and I doubt that they would elect him dogcatcher at this point in time.
