Blood Donation Program in Chain Federation Hall

Nepali Janasamparka Samiti America, New York Chapter has organized the Blood Donation Program in Chain Federation Hall, Astoria, New York on December 28, 2008 with the assistance of American Red Cross.

Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN Madhuraman Acharya was the Chief Guest of the Blood Donation Program. Somnath Ghimire, President, NJJSA, NY Chapter introduced the Chief Guest to American Red Cross team members. Mr. Acharya observe the Blood Donors around and distributed the Certificates. Also certificates were distributed to Blood Donors by Trailokya Pratap Sen, Harish Chandra Hamal, Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa, Somnath Ghimire, Roshan Kumar Dhungana, Mingmar Sherpa, Birendra Manadhar & Thomas Kane.

Thomas Kane, Account Manager and eight nurses from American Red Cross were there to coordinate the program. Nepali Janaspamparka Samiti America's Advisor Trilokya Pratap Sen, NJJSA Vice President Mingmar Sherpa, Birendra Manandhar, Pradeep Thapa, Sahadev Poudel, Anil Shahi, Lab B. Budhamagar, Munindra Nembwang, Roshan Gurung, Sapana Shree, Nuchheman Dangol, Raj Kapoor, Harish Chandra Hamal,Tilak Shrestha and other community leaders were there in the program. NY Chapter's V President Ram Chandra Regmi, General Secretary Bijaya Kr. Thulung, Secretary Phurba Sherpa, working committee members Janesh Gurung, Nani Bhandari, Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Gombe Lama, Tshering Sherpa, Laxmi Ghimire, Tshering Topke Lama, Sherap Sherpa (Yolmo) and member Yam Adhikari were in the program.

There were 135 registered names for the Blood Donation Program but 43 of them were able to donate blood.

Thulung, Ashoka Jyanwali, Srya Syangbo Sherpa, Phurba Sherpa, Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa, Dawa Sherpa, Bikram Nembwang, Mani Bangdel and Munindra Nembwang were volunteers in the program.

The Coordinator of the Blood Donation Program was Roshan Kumar Dhungana. This program was possible with the great support by Arjun Mainali, who donated blood 77 times already. The Program concluded with the last Blood Donor Somnath Ghimire, NY Chapter's President at 7:30 PM. *One Blood Donor saves three people's lives.*
