Caroline Kennedy is a Poor Speaker, You Know?

  Share With Friends

By

Caroline Kennedy has an impressive resume, she's an accomplished author, a philanthropist and an attorney. Kennedy graduated from Radcliffe College, and obtained a law degree from Columbia Law School.

The only surviving child of John F. Kennedy is in the news because it's believed that New York Governor David Patterson will appoint her to fill Hillary Clinton's Senate seat.

Kennedy may have an illustrious resume, but she makes a very poor impression when you listen to her talk. If you hear Kennedy read from a telepromter she sounds like a graduate of Columbia Law School, but when she speaks extemporarily she sounds like a dropout from community college.

If John McCain drives you crazy with his affectation for saying "my friends", just wait until you hear Kennedy speak. She will drive you up the wall with her penchant for employing the phrase "you know" in almost every sentence. You know, what I'm talking about?

"A defiant Caroline Kennedy says she 'wouldn't be beholden to anybody' - including Mayor Bloomberg - if she's picked to become New York's next U.S. senator.

'I'm really coming into this as somebody who isn't, YOU KNOW, part of the system, who obviously, you know, stands for the values of, YOU KNOW, the Democratic Party,' Kennedy told the Daily News Saturday during a wide-ranging interview.

'I know how important it is to, YOU KNOW, to be my own person. And, YOU KNOW, and that would be obviously true with my relationship with the mayor.'" KENNETH LOVETT/New York Daily News

Caroline Kennedy is no Sarah Palin, she's intelligent, well-educated, and she has lived a well-rounded life. She's been a tireless advocate for public education; I hope children don't watch her interviews on TV. You know, they might pick up her custom of saying "you know."

Kennedy would make an excellent senator, but she's turning off a lot of people with her habit of saying "you know." If she were running for senator that verbal tic would cost her more than a few votes.

Kennedy is notoriously shy and maybe that's why she uses "you know" as a crutch, but there's no excuse for a professional to sound uneducated.

That's pretty much all I have to say about Kennedy's speaking ability or lack thereof, you know what I'm talking about?
