Oklahoma State Senator Promotes Advocacy in Community
OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With the onset of
President-Elect Obama's inauguration, one Oklahoma State Senator is determined
to keep the constituents in her District aware that "government involvement
doesn't always solve problems." This is according to Senator Constance N.
Johnson, District 48. With the assistance of local business leaders and State
and City Procurement Officers, the Senator held a Legislative Business Summit
mid-fall with the assistance of House Representative Anastasia Pittman,
District 99, who shares the same sentiment; both are advocating that the
people make themselves aware of the issues facing the community. With this
information, better decisions can be made on how to make your 'voice' count.

Coordinators such as Larry Bradley, small business owner and former
employee of AT&T, shares, "You can fill out mountains of paperwork but still
not walk away with a contract even with certification."
Agreeing with his lament, Greg McGhee, Vice-President of the Oklahoma
Division of Bank of the West (www.bankofthewest.com), shares, "Having a
contract doesn't mean you can get adequate financing for the business,
either."
"Mentorship and good counsel is key," states Marty P. Minor of Dunamis
Power Systems, LLC, a current Tinker AFB contractor and veteran. Both he and
Annette D. Colbert-Beavers of Visage Production, Inc.
(www.visageproduction.net) benefited from the directions given them by Phillip
C. Miller of Longwave Inc. (www.longwaveinc.com) He also leased them space in
an effort to give them stability while both learned the ropes of Federal
Contracting.
"But when a community comes together -- even those who may not understand
the dynamics -- they truly benefit from it," concludes Oklahoma State Senator
Constance N. Johnson.
