Folsom Police operated a DUI checkpoint Friday night, on westbound Greenback Lane in the 9400 block. The officers were courteous and friendly and most people were pleased to see them checking for DUI drivers.
The weather was fine, with almost no wind, no rain and the temperature around 36 degrees. The extremely well-organized operation screened 904 vehicles, a 30% increase over the 686 vehicles screened in the May checkpoint.
Checking five or six vehicles at the same time streamlined the operation, minimizing wait times.
Although fewer drivers were tested for sobriety, one more was arested for DUI. There was also one warrant arrest, more than twice the number of citations issued, more than twice the number of suspended or revoked drivers stopped and twice the number of vehicles towed.
