Virtual Iron and Zycko to Extend Energy Savings Into New Markets
Virtualisation Poised for Greater Growth in EMEA Market Through Joint Venture

Zycko, the international distributor of leading
edge IT solutions, has joined forces with server virtualisation software
vendor Virtual Iron Software Inc. (www.virtualiron.com) to deliver energy
consumption savings to the EMEA market.
Zycko will provide a high-touch, consultative sales approach backed by
extensive technical expertise and broad product knowledge to help value
added resellers capitalise on the demand for mid-market and
enterprise-level server, storage and software solutions.
LivePower is among the many enterprise level features offered in Virtual
Iron Version 4.4. LivePower optimises power consumption by monitoring
resource utilisation in the virtual data center. When there is excess CPU
capacity, LivePower consolidates virtual machines onto fewer physical
servers and shuts down the remaining devices based on pre-defined policies.
When the virtual machine load increases beyond pre-defined thresholds,
LivePower turns physical servers back on and live migrates virtual machines
to rebalance the virtual data center to ensure resource requirements and
service levels are met.
Zycko's Group Sales Director, David Galton-Fenzi, said: "LivePower
technology is a significant development in virtualisation software and will
greatly reduce electrical power consumption, with energy savings passed
along to users. This feature will be of great interest to the EMEA
markets as businesses continue to pursue green initiatives.
"It is these impressive energy savings that will set Virtual Iron apart
from its competitors in the virtualisation market and we are looking
forward to working with Virtual Iron to deliver the savings on to new
customers."
Vice President of Worldwide Channel Sales for Virtual Iron, Bill Simpson,
stated: "LivePower provides additional capabilities for small and medium
sized enterprises to go green, save money and exemplifies the functional
depth and overall value of the Virtual Iron solution.
"In the current global economy, a low cost solution coupled with the
LivePower features enables customers to do more with less. We look forward
to working closely with Zycko to provide the EMEA market with more choices
in best in class virtualisation solutions," continued Simpson.
