ZZZ-Mails: Woman Sends Emails While In Deep Sleep
By Robert Paul Reyes
"A WOMAN in a deep sleep sent emails to friends asking them over for wine and caviar in what doctors believe is the first reported case of 'zzz-mailing' - using the Internet while asleep.
The case of the 44-year-old woman is reported by researchers from the University of Toledo in the latest edition of the medical journal Sleep Medicine." http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,28348,24802639-5014239,00.html
This article illustrates how much technology has become a part of our lives; where would we be without our laptops, cell phones and ipod's?
About a week ago my computer crashed and I lost access to the Internet for five days; I was as frustrated as Britney Spears must feel when she can't have sex for a week.
Granted the woman's emails didn't make a lot of sense, but the fact that in a deep sleep she could log online and compose a letter is amazing.
I write for a newspaper and for a couple of Web sites, I submit all my articles via emails. This year alone I will have penned over 700 essays, and not all of them are Pulitzer-worthy. For a few of my editorials, I wish I could use the excuse that I was in a deep sleep when I sent them to my editor.
That's an excuse that we all wish we could use, how many of us have regretted firing off an angry email? The problem is that it's so easy to send an email, there's no time for reflection.
I can image a womanizing husband using the deep sleep explanation for a lurid email that his wife discovers on his email account:
Honey, believe me I don't want to sleep with the buxom next-door neighbor! Sugar, I swear to you I wrote that email when I was in a deep sleep.
I get in enough trouble with some of the emails I write, I hope I never send any zzz-mails.
