Al Gore: Press Should Cover Global Warming and Not Paris Hilton
By Robert Paul Reyes
"Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore Jr., co-winner of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, urged the world to fight on against global warming at the conclusion of UN climate talks instead of focusing on celebrity news like the legal woes of O.J. Simpson and Paris Hilton's latest shopping escapade." Bloomberg.Com
When Al Gore was robbed of the presidency in 2000 he could have become embittered and cynical and dedicated the rest of his life to raking in the dough giving lectures.
Instead Gore dedicated his post-political career to battling global warming. Gore has been labeled an alarmist and a huckster, but undeterred he fights the good fight.
However hearing Gore deliver a lecture on global warming is as exciting as watching grass grow. Journalists, weary of losing their readership, simply will not cover any event featuring Al Gore.
I have easily written over a hundred essays about Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, but only a couple about Al Gore in the last few years.
Instead of bemoaning the fact that the antics of celebrity bimbos garner all the media attention, Gore should enlist one of these celebs to join his crusade.
I promise that I will write an essay about climate change, if Al Gore has Paris Hilton join him on stage.
Frankly, Al Gore's hot air is contributing to global warming. We need less verbiage about the subject from Al Gore, and a video or two from Paris Hilton urging her legion of fans to combat global warming.
