Oakwood Worldwide Appoints Bill Maxwell to Senior Vice President of Human Resources

Oakwood Worldwide, the leading global temporary housing provider, announces the appointment of Bill Maxwell to Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Maxwell joins Oakwood's executive leadership team with more than 25 years of progressive experience in strategic business leadership and global human resources management within the relocation and consumer products industries.

Maxwell joins Oakwood from Cartus, Oakwood's largest client, where he served as Executive Vice President of Global Human Resources, Diversity, and Managing Director of Global Performance Solutions. Prior to joining Cartus, Maxwell held lead human resources positions with the Black & Decker Corporation.

In his new role, Maxwell will spearhead Oakwood's human resources strategy while fostering an environment that encourages innovation, stellar engagement, peak performance, industry-setting retention, and pioneering customer service to achieve Oakwood's business goals and continued success.

Under Bill's leadership, Cartus was consistently recognized by Training Magazine as a Top 125 company for employee-sponsored workforce training and development programs. Cartus has also been recognized for innovations in leadership development and other training initiatives from the American Society for Training and Development. In 2003, Maxwell and his human resources team received the prestigious Innovative Practice Award from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for his team's work with Cartus' Innovative Work/Life Program.

Maxwell serves as a member of the editorial review board for People & Strategy, the official journal of the Human Resource Planning Society. He is also a frequent speaker for the Society for Human Resource Management, HR.com, the Mountain States Employers' Council, the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), Manhattanville College, and Fairfield University. In addition, Maxwell has been published in People and Strategy, the Journal of the Human Resources Planning Society and is featured in HR.com's book titled "Thoughts from the TOP" as well as in the April 2003 cover story of HR Magazine.

Maxwell holds a Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources (MIRHR) from the University of Toronto. He is also a graduate of the University of Western Ontario's Executive Program and a graduate of the Strategic Human Resources Program at Harvard University.
