Twilight Shines Online: Fandango Sells an Estimated 15% of Film's Opening Weekend Box Office

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Fandango, the nation's leading movie ticketing destination, announced today that it sold an estimated 15% of all tickets for Twilight, which took in a projected domestic weekend box office of $70.5 million*.

    Twilight made a major impact on Fandango:

-- Fandango's percentage of Twilight ticket sales ranks #2 among the company's largest share of a feature film's opening weekend box office. Only Fandango's 16% of Sex and the City's opening weekend was higher.

-- Twilight is #3 on the list of Fandango's top advance ticket-sellers. (Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and The Dark Knight are the only films to sell more tickets in advance.)

-- As of Sunday morning 9:00 a.m. PT, 63% of Twilight moviegoers plan to see it again, indicating that the film will enjoy repeat viewings, according to an ongoing Fandango.com poll.

"It's clear that the studio wanted to embrace the novel's loyal fans, whose passion translated to ticket sales.
