SEPTA Set to Operate Special Subway/Elevated Service for Thanksgiving Day Parade

Sports Express Trains Set For Eagles/Cardinals Thanksgiving Day Game

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SEPTA will operate on a holiday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday (November 27) and a modified weekday schedule on Friday (November 28).

THANKSGIVING DAY SERVICE

All SEPTA services will be on holiday (Sunday) schedules.

    --  For the Thanksgiving Day Parade, MarketFrankford and Broad Street Line
        trains will operate approximately every eight to ten minutes between 7
        a.m. and 1 p.m. In addition, service on both lines will continue to
        operate about every ten to twelve minutes for the remainder of the day.
    --  On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, due to the parade SEPTA bus Routes 2,
        7, 17, 27, 31, 32, 33, 38, 43, 44, 48, 124, 125, and C will be detoured
        from 6:30 a.m. until the conclusion of the event.
    --  Due to expected light ridership, SEPTA Suburban Transit Bus Routes will
        operate a special reduced Sunday schedule. Routes 104, 108, 109, 113,
        124, 125 will operate approximately every hour. Routes 93, 94, 96, 97,
        98, 99, 105, 110, 114, 117 will operate approximately every two hours.
        Route 305 will operate service approximately every two hours then hourly
        after 8:30 p.m. Route 119 will operate approximately every three hours.
        Route 134 will operate as scheduled while Routes 111, 120, 123, 129,
        130, 132, and 204 will not operate.
    --  Special Broad Street Line "Sports Express" service will depart
        Fern Rock Transportation Center every ten minutes from 6:15 p.m. to 8:05
        p.m. to Pattison Station and the South Philadelphia sports complex for
        the Eagles 8 p.m. game with the Arizona Cardinals at Lincoln Financial
        Field. Broad Street Line Sports Express trains stop only at the Olney
        Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall
        and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station.

Holiday volume to the game is expected to be heavier than normal so fans are encouraged to purchase a two pack of tokens ($2.90) at any SEPTA sales location before the game. Fans traveling intoCenter City can also take advantage of discounted $5.00 parking at any one of five city-operated parking lots for the game. SEPTA tokens may be purchased at the parking lots, which are only a short walk from the Broad Street Line City Hall Station.

The parking lots include:

    --  AutoPark - JFK Plaza Garage - 15th & Arch Streets
    --  AutoPark - Center City Lot - 15th & Arch Streets
    --  Gateway Garage - 15th & Vine Streets
    --  AutoPark - Gallery Mall - 10th & Filbert Streets
    --  AutoPark - Jefferson - 10th & Ludlow Streets

The SEPTA Customer Service Department, (215) 580-7800, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pre-recorded information is also available through the STAR system 24-hours a day.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 28

    --  SEPTA City and Suburban bus routes will operate on a modified weekday
        schedule (no school trips). Regional rail and subway/elevated services
        will operate on regular weekday schedules.
    --  Special westbound Route 123 service will begin at 3:15 a.m. from 69th
        Street Terminal en route to King of Prussia Mall every 15 minutes until
        6:55 p.m. then every 30-minutes until 8:55 p.m. Eastbound service from
        King of Prussia Mall to 69th Street will operate every 15-20 minutes
        from 10:50 a.m. until 11:40 p.m.
    --  Extra Route 124 and 125 service will operate beginning at 3:00 a.m. from
        13th & Market Streets to King of Prussia Mall throughout the day
        with extra eastbound service from the mall to Philadelphia at night.
    --  Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to town on board one of five special
        SEPTA Santa Express trains as they make their annual trip to
        Philadelphia's Center City shopping district. The special service
        includes five colorfully decorated trains featuring Santa, Mrs. Claus,
        Santa's helpers.  Two Market- Frankford Line trains, one Broad
        Street Line train, and two regional rail trains comprise the Santa
        Express fleet.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to arrive at the 11th Street Station (11th & Market streets) at 10:22 a.m. onboard a Market-Frankford Line train. From there they will lead a parade of children and costumed characters to the Gallery at Market East.

Santa Express trains will depart:

--On the Market-Frankford Line at 10 a.m. from Frankford Transportation Center, with Santa and Mrs. Claus on board (the media are invited to join them).

-- On the Market-Frankford Line at 10 a.m. from 69th Street Terminal.

-- On the Broad Street Line at 10 a.m. from the Fern Rock Transportation Center (the train will operate as an express).

-- On the regional rail Route R8 Chestnut Hill West Line at 9:30 a.m. from Chestnut Hill West Station.

-- On the regional rail Route R5 Paoli Line at 9:10 a.m. from Paoli Station.

Passengers can board any of the five trains at station stops along the way to join in on the festivities, although seating may be limited.
