Prime Minister Harper Names Harold Albrecht as Deputy Government Whip

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - (Marketwire - Nov. 21, 2008) - Harold Albrecht, the Member of Parliament for Kitchener - Conestoga will serve as Deputy Government Whip, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today.

"Harold posses the right combination of skills and experience to help our caucus navigate an ambitious agenda through Parliament," said the Prime Minister. "I am confident that he will be an excellent member of our House leadership team."

First elected in 2006, Dr. Albrecht served with distinction as a member of the Aboriginal and Northern Affairs and Government Operations and Estimates Committees. In both roles he demonstrated a firm grasp of Parliamentary Procedure.

Prior to entering public life, Dr. Albrecht worked as a dental surgeon and owned and operated a private dental practice in Kitchener for 27 years. A former chair of the Waterloo County Board of Education, Dr. Albrecht remains actively involved in his community and has worked on projects ranging from affordable housing, recreational facilities and children's' activities for local families.
