HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Douglas "Dougie" Christie, Jr., son of NBA power couple Doug and Jackie Christie, releases his first children's book "Dougie Learns to Ride" on December 12, 2008, just in time for the holidays. At only seven-years-old, Dougie is already finding ways to help other kids in the world, with his charity work, as well as entertaining them with his writing. He has written his first book about his experience learning to ride his bike, for the first time.

As the holiday season nears, Dougie hopes his children's book brings that innate quality of story time amongst the family. He also will donate all proceeds of his book to helping kids achieve better education through reading, and by donating toys to children whose families are affected by the struggling economy, to have a better holiday season.

"I really feel sad for the kids that can't have toys to play with for Christmas or have food to eat, so I feel good to be able to help all of them," Dougie said.

"Dougie is a natural when it comes to basketball, and wants to follow in his father's footsteps when he grows up and play professional basketball," says Jackie Christie.

With so much talent and creativity in such a young person, the opportunities are endless for this young, brilliant mind. Dougie is far beyond his years, and now adds author to his resume.

"I have always wanted to write books. I think that by doing so I am able to share my feelings and ideas, and relate better to other kids who read my books. I am probably the same age as them," a charismatic Dougie comments.

For now this little boy, who is a self proclaimed super hero, writes for the mere pleasure and love in doing so. With the world in his grasp, Dougie has only one thing in mind for right now, and that's riding his bike!
