Big Freeze Comes To Folsom

By

It's that time of year again! The sun comes up later, goes down earlier, sits lower in the sky and lets the cold winds in. The trees relax, and having already changed color, they start dropping leaves everywhere.

Thanks to a joint effort by the Folsom Tourism Bureau, Folsom Chamber of Commerce, City of Folsom and the Folsom Historic District Association, it will be colder, but a lot more fun this year, when the Folsom Ice Skating Rink opens in Historic Sutter Street.

In addition to the rink, which is under construction now, there will be weekend entertainment, drinks and snacks on the site. Your skating ticket will also get you discounts or gifts at participating stores and restaurants in Sutter Street, even if you visit them on another day.

Initially planned for opening on November 21st, the Ice Rink now opens on the 24th, due to the extended warm weather, which will slow down icemaking.

Located behind the Folsom Chamber of Commerce on Wool Street, the ice rink will be open from November 24th through January 19th. Hours are 10:00am to 9:30pm daily, including Thanksgiving Day, but closing at 4:00pm on Christmas Day.

Skate rental is free for parties of 15 or more, if reserved in advance. Group rates are available, except between December 20 and January 4.

Plenty of parking is available in the 300 space parking garage, just scross the block.

The Ambassador Room at the Chamber of Commerce is festively decorated for corporate events and Catering is available. Contact the Folsom Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau at 916 985-2698 to get more information.
