Stuffing or Dressing? By Either Name, 48% of Survey Respondents Likely to Make It at Home This Thanksgiving to Save Money
Top Stuffing Recipes for 2008 Dished Up by Allrecipes.com, America's #1 Food Site
SEATTLE, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The debate has raged since the 1880s when the Victorians decided the word "dressing" had more class than "stuffing." Either is acceptable today, but Easterners tend to call the seasoned bread mixture stuffing, while for Southerners, its "dressing." To others, the proper name may also depend whether the dish is served inside or outside the turkey. Whichever word you favor, one thing is certain, this Thanksgiving more families than ever will be making the dish at home. In a recent Allrecipes survey*, 48 percent of respondents said they plan to reduce holiday food costs by celebrating at home instead of in a restaurant.
To help prepare either stuffing or dressing, Allrecipes.com, the world's Number One food site, offers this year's most popular recipes based on page views and rankings by millions of home cooks so far this November. One variation is even baked in a slow cooker, thoughtfully keeping the oven free for the star of the show.
